Golden Jubilee – Sister Pauline Fogarty, Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor (Brown Nurses)

Sr Pauline Fogarty, a Brown Sister and member of our parish for many years, celebrated her Golden Jubilee of religious life with a renewal of her vows at the 10:30am Mass last Sunday. Fr Jeevaraj Thangarasa SJ celebrated the Mass.

Over decades, Sr Pauline went out to look after the homeless and poor wherever they lived here in the Kings Cross area; to assist them get government and other services for their needs to be met.

The Congregation Leader of the Brown Nurses, Sr Margaret Mary was witness to Sr Pauline renewal of her vows, along with fellow Brown Nurse and long-time friend of St Canice’s, Sr Pat Byron. Other good friends religious of years, Sr Maryanne Loughry, a Sister of Mercy and Associate Director of JRS, and Sr Noelene White, a Sister of the Good Shepherd, dedicated to promoting the welfare of women and girls in the Kings Cross area attended the Mass to celebrate with their good friend.

The family of Sr Pauline’s nephew Mark, his wife Miranda, and sons Thomas and Patrick were present. Margaret Spencer, a long time friend and associate introduced the visitors to the congregation at the beginning of Mass.
